Parker Morse Eagle Project (Connemara Walking Trail)
Hello Troop,
I’ll be holding my Eagle Scout project next Saturday, Feb. 19 from 9am - 2pm at Connemara Meadow.
This is an exciting project! Scouts will earn conservation service hours AND have a part in building a walking path known as "Sacagawea Trail" (Sacagawea means Bird Woman) -- meadow management will hang bird houses for many bird watchers, photographers and visitors to enjoy along the path.
- This walking path will be shoulder length wide in the wooded area along the NW boundary of the meadow/golf course border.
- No ground work will be necessary.
- Small trees 2" - 4" in diameter and vines that are in the way of movement will need to be removed with limb loppers.
- Some slightly larger "trees" require a battery powered chain saw so adults, please bring one if you have it.
- Cut debris will be piled in the meadow as shelter for quail and rabbits from hawks.
- I’m looking for about 10-15 volunteers.
- Wear: pants, long sleeve shirt, and close toed shoes/boots.
- Bring: work gloves, water
- Tools to bring if you have them: limb loppers (scouts), battery chain saw (adults), battery hedge trimmer (adults)
- I will provide snacks, drinks, and LUNCH at NOON
Email me at morsepark@icloud.com if you can volunteer or text me at (214) 799-7984.
